Who we Are

Welcome

The community of St. Stephen’s has a history marked by love and perseverance. We hold fast to our baptismal covenant, seeking to build a community that respects the dignity of every human being, as a welcoming family united in Christian love, worship, and service. We welcome and are inclusive of everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, faith background, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or gender. We are proud of the family we have built that is far more than a community, and is built on personal relationship with one another. As the world changes around us, one thing we know is that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Our Vision Statement

Our vision for St. Stephen's is to be known as a welcoming and loving faith family--one in which we and others clearly see God's grace and love in our worship, our actions, and our commitment to each other and our neighbors.

The vision of unity, worship, and service is embodied in:

  • True welcome and inclusion for all who seek a spiritual home
  • Joyful and prayerful worship, celebrating God's presence among us through our Episcopal liturgies
  • Beliefs grounded in scripture, tradition, and reason
  • Thirst for lifelong spiritual growth and knowledge
  • Care and counsel for those in need among us and in the wider community
  • Close fellowship in our work and play
  • Mindful stewardship of our many talents and resources

We look forward to providing a positive church experience in our rural corner of Virginia that honors our past while seeking to build a church that will sustain into the future. Together we walk with Jesus, seeking to serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves. If you are new or thinking about joining us on a Sunday morning, please know that you are always welcome here.
